Making a Booking

Who are Aravis Transfers?

Aravis Transfers is operated by the French company SARL Hotel les Aravis (SIRET 478 462 005) who are based in St Jean de Sixt and hold appropriate licences and insurance for this airport transfer service.

We have been operating transfers for over 15 years.

Your contract and all payment is with SARL Hotel Les Aravis and we are licensed with the Haute Savoie Department and Rhone Alpes region as a passenger transport operator in France (Licence 2018/84/0000111) and with the Swiss Canton of Geneva.

Who provides the AT transfer services?

Depending on the season and volumes, we use a mixture of our own English speaking drivers and local French professional transfer providers (taxis and minibuses). All drivers are fully licensed (French and Swiss) and insured.  Most of the local drivers will be able to speak some English, although not all are fully conversant.

Can I book on the Aravis Shuttle with you?

No, this is a separate company to us and all their dealings are online only.
For details and bookings, please see https://www.aravis-shuttle.com/

Do you have buses with large capacity?

Yes! We regularly work with our coach partner to provide transfers for large groups of up to 160 people. They have a range of mini, midi and full size coaches which can take up to 60 passengers.
Please contact us by email to arrange a bespoke quote.

What are the costs of your transfers?

Transfer prices vary depending on departure airport/station, destination and the number of people in your group. Please complete our short airport transfer booking form where your enquiry will be priced according to your requirements. In the case that your departure airport or destination is not listed please contact us by email or telephone. All prices for a single journey and fully inclusive of taxes, road tolls, etc.

Are the transfer prices quoted on the website inclusive of all extras?

Yes. We don’t charge anything extra for luggage, sporting equipment, baby seats, etc, although we do need to know in advance if you require any of these items to allow us to prepare with vehicle selection.

There are supplements for journeys which involve particularly early or late driving, and for journeys taking place on a Sunday – but these will be included in your quotation and the price generated by our booking engine. So the price you are quoted is the price you will pay.

How can I pay for my booking?

Your booking must be paid for in advance, and can be done securely online by credit or debit card. You complete our booking form with your journey details – and once all accepted and journey availability is confirmed, we will email you a secure payment link.

Destination address.

We need the full accommodation address of your hotel, chalet or apartment you want to be dropped off/collected from for your transfer. This should include the street name and number and the apartment number where relevant.

Failure to provide the correct accommodation details could impact on your transfer. Aravis Transfers and our transfer providers will not accept any responsibility for any incorrect information provided in your booking form. Please check your details carefully.

Although our drivers do have local knowledge the customer has responsibility for providing details and directions to the accommodation. Aravis Transfers cannot accept responsibility for knowing the location of all apartments, chalets or addresses in the region and you should contact your accommodation provider for a full map or directions to the accommodation. Our drivers will spend a maximum of 15 minutes looking for your accommodation before then dropping you and your guests at the village tourist information office.

Contact details.

We only use your number for contact relevant to your transfer and it is essential in order for us to provide our customers with the high levels of service we offer. All numbers must include the country code, for UK numbers this is +44, and remove the first 0 for example 07790123123 becomes +447790123123.

It is the responsibility of the customer to provide a contact mobile telephone number at the time of booking and that this number is switched on and working at the time of travel. Failure to do so could impact on your transfer. Aravis Transfers and our transfer providers will not accept any responsibility for any impact on a transfer should a customer fail to provide us with a working contact mobile number at the time of booking. Please check your details carefully.

Should I take travel insurance for my trip?

Yes – we strongly recommend that you take out insurance for your trip and that this covers you for travel disruption, delays, cancelations etc. as well as the essential medical cover. In the event of clients needing to make an insurance claim due to cancellation or additional charges resulting from delay we will provide all necessary documentation to the client for their claim.

How much luggage can I bring?

One large piece of luggage per person is included in the cost of the transfer quoted to you at the time of booking. If you are travelling with ‘excessive/oversized’ luggage or sports equipment, please let us know so that we can ensure that you are picked up by an appropriately sized vehicle.

Can I bring sports equipment (bike/skis)?

Arrival Procedures

Which airports do Aravis Transfers pick up from?

Our main pick up airport is Geneva International (Cointrin) Airport.
Please contact us for a bespoke quote if you are arriving at a different airport.

Which train stations do Aravis Transfers pick up from?

We can offer pick ups from either Geneva Central (Cornavin) or Geneva Airport train stations, as well as Annecy train station.

Does AT offer pick ups from other arrival locations?

Yes, we can – although it depends on how busy the schedule is as to whether we can accommodate all requests. We are able to offer transfers from all across the Haute Savoie and Savoie region. If you arrival/destination does not appear on our drop down list of options, please contact us at info@aravis-transfers.com  for a bespoke quote.

Which destinations does AT cover?

Aravis Transfers specialise in offering transfer solutions between Geneva and Annecy to the villages and ski resorts of the Aravis Mountains. This is our “regular” route and has the most capacity of vehicles and choices.

Other destinations and locations (including from ski resort to ski resort) may be possible and we can prepare a customised quote for your journey. Due to traffic and busy roads, these are often difficult to accommodate on weekends in the winter season – but otherwise we will do our best to find a solution!

How do I find my driver at the airport?

Our drivers will be waiting for you immediately in front of the exit from baggage reclaim in Geneva airport arrivals hall. They can be found in front of the yellow Airport Information desks, and they will either be holding up a placard marked “Aravis Transfers” or a placard with the name the booking was made under.

Please note that this is the Swiss side of the airport and you should not proceed to the French sector. Following the main signs for Arrivals will guide you to the Swiss side.

Please take a good walk up and down the arrivals area to look for the drivers sign. If you are unable to locate your driver, please call the number provided on your booking confirmation email.

How long will I have to wait after I come through arrival before I set off?

Your driver should be waiting for you for an immediate departure.
Occasionally due to bad weather or congestion on the Swiss/French border our drivers may be delayed; if this is the case we will try and use the mobile telephone number provided on booking to let you know. Our drivers will have this number as well so please make sure you do bring this phone with you and ensure you can be contacted if needed.

What happens if my flight is early?

Our drivers are scheduled to meet you at the advertised flight arrival time. Should your flight arrive early, your driver may not be at the airport. Please wait in the arrivals hall having exited the baggage reclaim area and wait for your driver in this area.

What happens if my flight/train is delayed and arrives late?

Ultimately – we will do our best to cope with all flight delays and reschedule transfers as best we can!

If your flight is delayed by up to 1 hour from its scheduled arrival time we will meet you direct from the flight and there will be no additional charge.

If your flight is delayed by between 1 and 2 hours from its scheduled arrival time we will do our best to meet you as soon as possible after arrival, but there may be a further wait at the airport due to our rescheduling. We will get you to your destination as booked but we cannot guarantee timescales and reserve the right to charge a supplement of up to €90 to cover costs of additional journeys and driver waiting time. Please note additional charges are only applied in worst case situations where we have to organise additional vehicles and/or incur extra costs.

If your flight is delayed by more than 2 hours from its scheduled arrival time this may be treated as a cancellation and a new booking will have to be made. We cannot offer any refund for journeys cancelled less than 7 days before the date of travel. In the event of cancellation we can provide all documentation that you may need for a travel insurance claim. We will endeavour to help you reach your final destination although this will be subject to our vehicle and driver availability and may be charged separately. If we know about any delays in advance and can manage our schedule and workload accordingly then it is possible that no extra charges will be incurred. Extra charges would only be applied as a worst case scenario.

What happens if my flight/train is cancelled?

Please contact us on the number provided at the earliest opportunity to discuss the options. We may be able to reschedule your transfer for a new flight time.

However in some cases we will treat your booking as a cancellation and a new booking will have to be made. We cannot offer any refund for journeys cancelled less than 7 days before the date of travel. In the event of cancellation we can provide all documentation that you may need for a travel insurance claim.

What happens if my luggage has been lost by the airline?

Please contact us on our operational number to advise us of your delay coming through baggage reclaim. It will be the airlines responsibility to ensure that your luggage arrives at your destination address. Please complete the formalities as quickly as possible with the airline, to enable you to meet your driver.

During Travel

Are your drivers English speakers?

Some of our team are native English speaking who now live and work in France. Other drivers will be local French drivers and their level of English will vary. All will have a sufficient level to understand and be understood – but maybe not conversational. They may like to try and practice their English though!

Are your drivers vetted?

Our own drivers are recruited for their driving and customer service experience and must pass French formalities such as a Police Records check, specific drivers medical etc. As partners, we only use local French professional transfer providers (taxis and minibuses) who are also subject to the same legislation. All the drivers we use are fully licensed (French and Swiss) and insured and they operate under Fr Licence Taxi : 650-10

Can we stop en-route to our accommodation for provisioning?

Outside ‘peak periods’ – Saturdays and School Holidays –  this is at the discretion of your driver. You may request this of the driver, but it is by no means guaranteed as will depend on the wider transfer schedule for the day.

What is your smoking policy?

We have a strictly ‘No Smoking’ and ‘No Alcohol’ policy in our transfer vehicles.

Do I need to tip my driver?

It is not obligatory, but it is always appreciated.

Departure Procedures

How will I know my exact pick up time for the return leg?

This pick-up time will be communicated to you in the confirmation email. It is calculated to get you to the airport at least 2 hours before your flight departure, and takes into account the potential traffic conditions for that day and time.

It may also be necessary to modify this pick-up time for your departure (due to impending snow or adverse weather etc) and our driver scheduler will contact you by phone/text to confirm this in the day or 2 prior to your departure.

What happens if I am late for my pick up?

You should be ready to go at the arranged pick up time. Your driver may be running to a schedule and may be unable to wait for you. If you miss your transfer, you will most likely have to rebook a new transfer, at full cost and subject to availability, and we will not be able to offer a refund for the missed transfer.

In all cases, we recommend that you call our operations number, detailed on your booking confirmation, if you think that you will be late for your scheduled pick up time.

What happens if I want to be picked up at a different location to where I was dropped off?

If you want to change the pick-up address for your departure transfer please speak to a member of our team to make the change. You must get a written contact and an updated confirmation from us to be sure that your changes have been taken into account…leaving us a voicemail does not count!

What happens if the weather conditions are bad?

If we anticipate bad weather (heavy snow etc) on your transfer day that may impact your travel times, we will contact you to reschedule our pick up time for you using the mobile number we have on file for you.
This could bring the time forward by 30mins to an hour to avoid any issues or delays etc.

Can I be dropped off at an airport hotel?

Yes, please note the name and address of the hotel in the notes section on your booking form at the time of booking.
